I’m predicting that Stock X and Ebay are the future of selling products…

In both models, the demand for the product is reflected in the retail price. If more people want the product, the price is higher and vice versa.

Selling the same thing for different prices currently only shows up in a few industries i.e. Airlines. These industries have proven that it works.

With the rise in reselling, it’s proven to brands, that people are prepared to pay a lot more for certain products, than the RRP they listed them at.

After all, as Eli Goldratt says, ‘the true price of goods, is the price the consumer is prepared to pay for them’.

My favourite example recently was by the tech challenger ‘Nothing’, who recently launched it’s first ever phone on Stockx. This meant that when the phone launched, it sold for 6 x it’s retail price.

In the same vein, you could easily imagine adaptive pricing that reflects demand, for a sneaker drop, on the Nike SNKRS App
